John Cannon, Fine Art
“Having a piece of original art is the most unique thing you can do.” -John Cannon
Commission portraits, House portraits, Pet portraits, and Instruction classes are what you will find at John Cannon’s studio and retail space at the Idea Hatchery on Woodland street at Five Points in East Nashville. John Cannon is doing what most artists only dream of. He is actually working full time doing what he loves. When you walk into his studio/retail space, you will most likely find him busy painting his next piece. Don’t be shy though. John has his studio set up this way on purpose. He loves to talk and paint and answer questions, or just let you look around as you please. You can purchase any of the pieces you see in the shop or commission your own piece. One thing you will notice right away is how affordable John’s art is, with pieces in the shop ranging from $20-$2000. Believe it or not, John practiced law for 25 years before becoming a full time artist! After initially studying art while he was an undergrad, he went back to graduate school to study law. What made him go back to being an artist after a successful 25 year law career? Find out why in his Artist Spotlight video interview below (2nd video). Check out the store tour in the first video or see John in action as he works on a house portrait in the 3rd video. Make sure you stop in and tell John “Hello!” the next time you are shopping at the Idea Hatchery! You can find a link to his website and Facebook page on the right side of this page.
